John Powers, MD


John Powers, M.D. was born and raised in Oklahoma. He received his undergraduate degree in philosophy in 2001 at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts. He spent the years between college and medical school working in a variety of fields, but spent most of his time as a reporter and editor for print and digital news outlets. Upon deciding to go into medicine, he attended the Medical School for International Health at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Be’er Sheva, Israel – a school which incorporates a global health curriculum throughout the 4 years of medical school. After graduating in 2015, he went on to complete a residency in psychiatry at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His professional interests include, but are not limited to, resident education, psychiatric formulation, and psychotherapy.
