All residents receive a minimum of one hour of caseload supervision per clinic day. In Billings, each resident receives individual psychotherapy supervision weekly. The amount and type of supervision for each resident depends on the specific clinical rotation, the level of experience and competence of the resident, his/her number of psychotherapy patients, and other individual resident needs or interests.

The program aims to provide each resident with appropriate supervision for each clinical experience, with the general goal of giving residents increasing levels of responsibility and autonomy as they progress through training.

Supervision is provided, in both Seattle and Billings, by on-site faculty supervising specific clinical rotations and by both regular attending staff and faculty in practice within the broader community, who provide a variety of perspectives in supervising the resident’s psychotherapy cases.
